The National World Organization of Webmasters is a non-profit professional association dedicated to the support of individuals and organizations who create, manage or market web sites. WOW provides education as well as certification, technical, employment and member advantage services to thousands of aspiring and practicing web professionals worldwide.
WOW mission statement
WOW’s mission is to:
- Foster professional standards
- Provide for communication among all webmasters, including corporate webmasters in government, business, and education, independent webmasters, and aspiring webmasters such as students
- Provide for education through the development of curriculum, publishing of articles and books, professional papers, and the sponsoring of seminars and conferences
- Stimulate the continued growth of the Web by providing a forum for the raising of new ideas and an effective mechanism for dialog on these issues
- Provide security, legal and marketing white papers as well as an area on the latest trends in the Internet on each of those
WOW vision
As the Internet evolves, the role of the webmaster will evolve with it. The World Organization of Webmasters envisions itself as a community of common interest, where individuals can find common ground for communication and education, regardless of their specific responsibilities or abilities. This organization will be open to anyone in the world who believes in our philosophy and sincerely desires to enhance their capabilities and that of the World Wide Web. It will be administered by its members in accordance with democratic principles.

Central Illinois Chapter WOW
Our Central Illinois WOW Chapter is 7 years old! We have a growing membership and meet during Fall and Spring semesters on the campus of Illinois Central College. Talks of forming a chapter began in February of 2000 and by April of that same year, we hosted our very first meeting with over 70 people in attendance.
WOW - World Organization of Webmasters
The World Organization of Webmasters (WOW) is a non-profit professional association dedicated to providing web professionals with resources they need to do their jobs better. Although we're called "Webmasters", our members do all kinds of web-related work, including design, hosting, content creation and production, marketing and much more.
There are about 40 chapters worldwide . WOW currently has about 12,000 members in 50 countries. Membership in The World Organization of Webmasters is offered both to individuals who create, manage and market their own web sites, and to public- or private-sector employees who play a leading role in shaping their organizations' on-line strategy. This includes students learning to become web professionals.
The mission of the national and local chapters of the World Organization of Webmasters is to:
- Support and enhance the role of individuals and organizations who create, manage or market web sites.
- Foster professional standards by providing Webmaster certification as well as educational, technical, employment and member advantage services.
- Provide for communication and information interchange among all Webmasters, including corporate Webmasters in government, business, and education, independent Webmasters, and aspiring Webmasters such as students.
- Provide for education through the publishing of articles, professional papers, and the sponsoring of seminars and conferences.
- Stimulate the continued growth of the Web by providing a forum for the raising of new ideas and an effective mechanism for dialog on these issues.
